Here at Matrix Surgical, we believe we are part of the community and part of our responsibility is to provide for those who are less fortunate than us.
As a company we were keen to contribute; not just in a financial way, but in a ‘hands-on’ way and were looking for somewhere we could make a real difference. One of the key criteria was that the funds be used to provide maximum benefit to those in need, and not be lost to high administrative costs. We also wanted something our staff could, as a team, volunteer their help if they wanted to.
We have chosen to partner with St Vincent de Paul through their Vinnies Food Van project. Matrix staff, friends and family have all been involved in this project which we have found to be very rewarding.
We have been out on the vans helping to feed the homeless and talking to them. The vans are manned by volunteers and provide hot food, sandwiches, soup, drinks and items such as beanies, gloves, blankets and whatever they can offer to make things a little easier for these people. Vinnies are the only food van in the city that goes out 7 days a week.
We also provide dignity packs for the homeless. When our staff are travelling they collect unused toiletries and bring them back to the office. We put them in bags and distribute them to the needy.
